Today’s travel changes are connected to the Parada Militar and Fiestas Patrias celebrations. Plan around the published restrictions and check your route immediately before leaving. This is a dated travel briefing, not a live traffic feed.

What is happening, and why?
Chile marks Día de las Glorias del Ejército today. The annual Parada Militar is scheduled from 12:00 noon at the ellipse in Parque O’Higgins, as part of Fiestas Patrias. It is a military ceremony, rather than a protest.
Reported road restrictions cover:
- Manuel Rodríguez: Alameda to Isabel Riquelme.
- Avenida España: Alameda to Centenario.
- Blanco Encalada–Avenida Matta: San Alfonso to San Diego.
The report does not establish an exact reopening time. EL PAÍS: parade schedule and restrictions, 17 September.
Bus changes that matter in Santiago Centro
Red Movilidad’s official Saturday 19 September notice lists these examples:
- 513, return direction: Marín → Eleuterio Ramírez → Santa Rosa.
- 403, outward direction: San Francisco → Santa Isabel.
- 412 and 418, outward direction: San Francisco → Santa Isabel, then onward through the published diversion.
- 419 and 423: shortened journeys until Plaza Baquedano reopens.
These are selected changes, not the complete network plan. The notice does not give precise activation or finishing times for each diversion. Check your route and direction in the official Red weekend diversion list.
Local interpretation: streets used as diversion routes may carry additional buses and traffic. Being listed as a diversion street does not mean Eleuterio Ramírez or San Francisco is closed. Extra congestion is a reasonable expectation, not a measured delay.
A simple plan before you leave
By car: check the current restrictions before choosing a route through the Parque O’Higgins area. Allow a time buffer and choose a legal pickup or parking location away from barriers. Follow on-street directions even if your navigation app suggests otherwise.
By bus: verify the direction, temporary stopping point and return journey. A familiar route number may follow a different street today.
By Metro: check the Red service-status page and Metro’s official website before travelling. Road diversions alone do not establish that a Metro station is closed. This article does not promise normal service throughout the day.
On foot: use designated crossings, keep clear of vehicle movements and leave room around entrances. If travelling with someone who needs a quieter or more accessible route, agree a backup meeting point beforehand.
What is confirmed—and what is not?
Confirmed in the published notices: ceremonial activity and planned transport changes.
Not established here: precise delays at individual intersections, the time every road will reopen, or any forecast of violence or property damage. A traffic restriction is not evidence of unrest.
For changing conditions, consult Transporte Informa and the official transport links above. Check the publication date when sharing a screenshot: an older diversion may no longer apply.
Useful English for today
- Diversion — desvío: “Our bus is following a diversion.”
- Road closure — corte de tránsito: “There is a road closure near the park.”
- Allow extra time — salir con tiempo adicional: “Allow extra time for the journey.”
- Reopen — reabrir: “Check when the road will reopen.”
One practical next step: check both your outward and return route before leaving home.
