Hello, English Stars!
Welcome to today’s fun English adventure! We can learn English with things kids already love: cartoons, toys, books, music, games, and school subjects. If you know some words already, awesome! If some words are new, that is awesome too. New words are like shiny little treasures.
Today, read slowly, smile, and try to say the new words out loud. You can even teach one new word to a brother, sister, friend, or grown-up at home. Let’s go!
## Cartoons Kids Are Watching in Chile
Many kids in Chile enjoy funny and exciting cartoons from TV and streaming. Popular choices often include Bluey, Pokémon Horizons, Teen Titans Go!, The Amazing World of Gumball, and SpongeBob SquarePants. These shows are full of jokes, adventure, friendship, and silly surprises.
Cartoons are great for English practice because you can hear short, clear sentences. Try listening for easy words like friend, run, happy, team, and help. Watching with subtitles can help too.
Mini challenge: Say this in English: “My favorite cartoon is funny!”
## Toys & Collectibles
Kids in Chile often like trading cards, football sticker albums, building sets, mini figures, plush toys, board games, slime kits, and puzzle games. Some children love collecting small treasures and keeping them in a special box or on a shelf.
Toys can teach English too. You can count pieces, name colors, and describe shapes. For example: I have two red blocks. Or: This card is shiny.
Try this: Look at a toy near you and say two English words about it, like big, soft, blue, or cool.
## Sweet Treats & Candies
Chile has many yummy treats that kids know well. Some popular sweet snacks are alfajores, cuchuflí, calugas, gomitas, and cookies with manjar. These treats can be crunchy, chewy, soft, or sweet.
Here are some tasty English words: sweet, chocolate, cookie, crunchy, and delicious. You can say: This cookie is sweet. Or: The wafer is crunchy.
Sweet treats are fun sometimes, and water and fruit are great choices too!
## Books & Stories
Reading is a superpower! Many children enjoy funny and exciting books like Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Percy Jackson, and The Wild Robot. Short comics, folk tales, and adventure stories are great choices too.
If a full book feels long, start with one chapter, one comic page, or one short story. Reading a little every day helps your English grow step by step.
Book tip: When you read, circle or write down one new English word. Then use it in your own sentence.
## Music & Dance
Music makes English fun! Many kids enjoy family-friendly pop songs, songs from animated movies, dance practice videos, and cheerful Latin rhythms. Some children also enjoy learning simple dance moves to clean pop playlists or practicing traditional dances like cueca at special times of year.
Songs help you remember words because you hear them again and again. Try singing easy words like hello, dance, heart, day, and light.
Move and learn: Stand up and say: I can dance!
## Hobbies & After-School Fun
After school, many kids in Chile enjoy football, biking, drawing, skating, chess, dancing, crafts, robotics, reading comics, and making friendship bracelets. Some kids love outdoor play, and others enjoy quiet hobbies indoors. Both are great!
Hobbies give you easy English practice. You can say: I play football. I draw animals. I ride my bike. I make crafts.
Challenge: Finish this sentence in English: After school, I like to...
