Hello, English Explorers!
Happy Saturday! September is an exciting month in Chile. Spring is near, the days are getting warmer, and Fiestas Patrias will arrive soon. Today we will learn English with cartoons, toys, treats, books, music and hobbies. Get ready for a colorful adventure!
Cartoons Kids Are Watching in Chile
Many children in Chile enjoy funny and adventurous cartoons on television and streaming services. Bluey tells warm stories about family and imagination. Pokémon Horizons has new trainers, fantastic creatures and big adventures. Miraculous mixes school life with superhero action. SpongeBob SquarePants and Teen Titans Go! are also popular choices for silly comedy.
Try watching a short episode in English. Listen for simple words such as friend, help, family and adventure.
Toys & Collectibles
Building bricks, Pokémon cards, soft plush toys and small surprise figures are fun collectibles. Many kids also enjoy UNO, puzzles and Minecraft building sets. Some children trade cards or figures with friends, but it is important to ask an adult first and make fair trades.
You can say: “My favorite collectible is the blue one.” You can also ask: “Would you like to play a board game?”
Sweet Treats & Candies
Chile has many famous snacks. Super 8 has crispy wafers and chocolate. Chocman is a soft cake with a sweet filling. Frugelé candies are small, fruity and chewy. Children may also enjoy Suny, cuchuflí or crunchy Ramitas.
Treats are delicious, but they are best in small portions. Drink water and remember to brush your teeth afterward!
Books & Stories
Papelucho is a Chilean classic about a creative boy and his everyday adventures. Kids who like funny school stories may enjoy Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Fantasy readers can explore the first Harry Potter books, Percy Jackson or the exciting Amanda Black series.
Reading a familiar story in English is a great challenge. Start with one page and circle new words. A little reading every day makes a big difference!
Music & Dance
Kids in Chile enjoy animated-movie songs, K-pop dance tracks, clean Latin pop and music from video games. Family playlists may include upbeat songs by artists such as Shakira or TINI, along with favorite movie soundtracks. Always choose family-friendly versions.
Play a song in English and find three words you understand. Then invent a safe dance routine with a spin, two claps and a funny pose!
Hobbies & After-School Fun
Football, basketball, volleyball and cycling are popular ways to stay active. Other kids like drawing, crochet, crafts, robotics, coding, chess or cooking with their families. Spring is also a good time to visit a park, fly a kite or observe birds.
Ask a friend: “What do you like doing after school?” You can answer: “I like playing football and drawing comics.”
